The Power of Gratitude

Posted on May 2, 2016 at 10:10 PM Comments comments (0)

On Apil 12, 2016, I celebrated my 20th year of being a breast cancer survivor and it's with much gratitude that I'm alive to share my story. As a finalist for Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Power of Gratitude, I share one of the secrets that has helped me to make it this far.

Gratitude is just as much a state of mind as it is of the heart. Cancer gave me a new perspective on life and helped me set my priorities straight. As a writer and speaker, I've had the privilege of sharing my story for the past two decades and, hopefully, for many years to come.

I would love to hear your story of survival. Post it here in the comment section or you may hit the comment button. I'll be sharing those in my next blog.

With joy and gratitude,

Connie

Chicken Soup: Time to Thrive

My story, "Eating to Live" is included in this new edition of Chicken Soup for the Soul:Time to Thrive. It's how I went from Stage III kidney disease to normal kidney function. Changing the way you eat isn't easy -- especially if it involves dispensing with chocolate, coffee and peanut butter (and dairy products).I monitor everything that goes into my mouth and I'm thriving. I've grown through this exprience and now I have the opporunity to share with others. If you're diagnosed with kidney disease; it's not the end of the world. Doctors don't tell you how to eat right; they just want to give you a pill. But there's a lot we can do to promote our own good health through healthy eating.

Here's to your health!

I'm grateful to be able to share with you some great gifts for Mother's Day from Chicken Soup for the Soul. Two books: Thanks to My Mom with my story "This Too Shall Pass" and Chicken Soup for the Soul: Time to Thrive (my story: "Eating to Live"). One story deals with overcoming breast cancer and the other kidney disease. When life hands you lemons, "write stories" is my motto. I hope these stories will be an encouragement to others going through similar trials. They are both available on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble or your favorite bookstore.

The latest update is that beginning on October 3, 2015, Chicken Soup will have a family TV show airing on the CW One Magnificent Morning Line-Up.
