Chicken Soup: Time to Thrive

Posted on May 14, 2015 at 1:25 PM Comments comments (0)

My story, "Eating to Live" is included in this new edition of Chicken Soup for the Soul:Time to Thrive. It's how I went from Stage III kidney disease to normal kidney function. Changing the way you eat isn't easy -- especially if it involves dispensing with chocolate, coffee and peanut butter (and dairy products).I monitor everything that goes into my mouth and I'm thriving. I've grown through this exprience and now I have the opporunity to share with others. If you're diagnosed with kidney disease; it's not the end of the world. Doctors don't tell you how to eat right; they just want to give you a pill. But there's a lot we can do to promote our own good health through healthy eating.

Here's to your health!

Mother's Day Gifts

I'm grateful to be able to share with you some great gifts for Mother's Day from Chicken Soup for the Soul. Two books: Thanks to My Mom with my story "This Too Shall Pass" and Chicken Soup for the Soul: Time to Thrive (my story: "Eating to Live"). One story deals with overcoming breast cancer and the other kidney disease. When life hands you lemons, "write stories" is my motto. I hope these stories will be an encouragement to others going through similar trials. They are both available on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble or your favorite bookstore.

Recently, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Touched by an Angel was discussed on Dr. Oz. He talks about neurotheology -- how the spiritual affects the mind. Another book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hope and Miracles is also coming out February 10, 2015 in which I have a story -- "Mother's Day Surprise."

Also, another book, which I have a story in is Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power of Forgiveness and a TV show is in the making. "Chicken Soup for the Soul is coming to your Saturday morning TV lineup. The latest update is that beginning on October 3, 2015, Chicken Soup will have a family TV show airing on the CW One Magnificent Morning Line-Up.

Stayed tuned for more Chicken Soup news.

Time to Thrive

One of the best parts of being an author is giving back and paying it forward. When we were home for Christmas in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (2014), I was able to do something I've always wanted to do -- pay it forward with books.

Twenty years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer and I was not thriving! I vowed at that time, I would use my experience to help others. I was a contributor in the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Hope and Healing for Your Breast Cancer Journey and Think Positive for Great Health series. I was able to deliver a box of books to the library at the health campus where I received radiation treatment, so others could benefit from my experience and receive hope!

I was also able to do a book signing at Lancaster Christian Writer's Group with Chicken Soup for the Soul: Power of the Positive. And two more books are coming out: Hope and Miracles; Thanks to My Mom and Time to Thrive.

It's a special privilege to write for Chicken Soup and I'm always thrilled when I hear that one of my stories has been accepted.

Blessings!

Christmas Gifts

Posted on December 12, 2014 at 3:25 PM Comments comments (0)

Christmas shopping is always easy for me every year; I give the gift that keeps on giving -- a book, and usually I have lots to choose from. As a Chicken for the Soul writer, I normally have stories in one or two of their series each year and everyone loves a Chicken Soup book; they're classics.

So this year, why not make it a goal to give a book as a gift and also try your hand at writing a Chicken Soup story. Their guidelines for submission and upcoming books are listed on their website at: www.chickensoup.com

Warmest wishes for a blessed holiday season!
