I’m so excited to share that my story, “A Little Housekeeping,” is part of the latest Chicken Soup for the Soul: Self-Care Isn’t Selfish!
My chapter offers a personal reflection on what self-care looked like during cancer recovery—beginning with something as simple as reclaiming my well-being and removing negative influences in a season that felt uncertain and out of control.
This book is filled with honest, uplifting stories from people who discovered that self-care isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. The stories are organized into nine practical themes, including:
learning to say “no” as a complete sentence,
taking back control of your time,
moving your body and spending time in nature,
enjoying small treats and personal rituals,
putting yourself first on your to-do list.
Editor Amy Newmark says it best: “Self-care makes us better at caring for the people we love.”
Whether you're facing a health challenge, adjusting to a life transition, or just feeling stretched too thin, I think you’ll find something encouraging in these pages. This book reminds us that taking care of ourselves isn’t selfish—it’s one of the most generous things we can do for ourselves. Until next time . . .
